The terms of reference of the WHO Collaborating Centre for Epidemiology and Prevention of Cardiovascular and Other Chronic Diseases in Münster are as follows (2008 - 2012):

• To collaborate with WHO in training in the field of CVD epidemiology and prevention
• To collaborate in various WHO projects in the field of cardiovascular disease (WHO MONICA Project, EUROASPIRE I, II, III Project).
• To collaborate in the field of epidemiology of asthma and allergies (ISAAC - International Study of Asthma and Allergies in Childhood I, II, II).
• To provide consultation and assistance in occupational epidemiology.
• To provide data on the burden of passive smoking in Germany.
